Talbot Village Trust, the grant giving charity, has provided Wimborne Minster with £50,000 to fund vital lighting and electrical repairs throughout the building.
This grant has enabled the Minster’s major renovation project, costing in excess of £225,000, to be completed this year. Using this sum from the Trust, the life-expired lighting and electrical installation within the Minster has been replaced with a modern, low-energy and safety compliant system.

Wimborne Minster was founded some 1,300 years ago and continues to provide a dedicated place of worship for members of the town and surrounding community.

The Reverend Canon Andrew Rowland, Rector of Wimborne Minster, commented: “We are very grateful to have received this support from Talbot Village Trust at such a difficult time. The funding will ensure the Minster can continue to serve the community well into the future. It is important to both maintain and improve the built heritage of our ancient Minster Church, in the 900th anniversary year of the Norman building.”

Russell Lucas-Rowe, Trustee of Talbot Village Trust, added: “We are incredibly proud to be supporting Wimborne Minster by facilitating these repairs. The Minster plays a vital role in local community and it is a fantastic focal point and resource in the local area.”

Talbot Village Trust is a grant giving charity that provides support to charities based in Bournemouth, Poole and the surrounding areas. The Trust meets biannually and is accepting applications for funding from both previous and new applicants in the area before the Trustees meet in spring 2021.
