Talbot Village Trust has enabled Parkstone Grammar School to add trampolining to its physical education offering, by donating £5,000 to its PE department for a trampoline and end deck.

The grant has allowed Parkstone Grammar School to offer the sport to both GCSE and A-Level pupils, providing an extra option to its extensive physical education offering.

Charlotte Warren, Head of PE at Parkstone Grammar School, said: “We would like to express our gratitude to Talbot Village Trust for their generous donation to our PE department at Parkstone Grammar School. With this support, we have been able to purchase a trampoline and the necessary end deck which has further enhanced our curriculum. We are now able to give pupils an opportunity to participate in trampolining, whether this is in lesson time or after school.”

In addition to GCSE lessons, trampolining has now been added as an option for Key Stage Four pupils during their core PE time, for students opting out of GCSE level PE. This new offering has already seen a high take up, with four out of six year 11 groups taking part in the sport during lesson time, providing students with a fun option to engage in physical activity.

Prior to receiving Talbot Village Trust’s grant, students at Parkstone Grammar School were required to join a club outside of school in order to take up the sport. Now, trampolining is a more accessible sport option for interested students.

Nicholas Ashley-Cooper, Chairman of Talbot Village Trust, said: “Ensuring physical activity remains accessible and enjoyable for all is of paramount importance to all of us at the Trust. School is an important time for young people to find their feet and figure out what their passions are, so being able to provide Parkstone Grammar School with a high-demand sport to add to its PE curriculum is wonderful.”
